The Sugar Baby Watermelon may be petite, but it is also mighty. This is an excellent variety. Sugar Baby is an "icebox" variety with a strong, dark green rind and bright red, sweet flesh. This melon measures 6" to 8" in diameter, and its average weight is 8 to 10 pounds. Because of its small size, Sugar Baby can be grown successfully on a trellis. Harvest watermelon when the bottom of the melon is yellow and when the little "curlicue" of the stem dries up.
