About Seedrate

The open seed directory

Seedrate is a community-built directory of heirloom, open-pollinated, and non-GMO seed varieties and the companies that sell them. Our goal is to make it easy for home gardeners, market farmers, and seed savers to find the right varieties for their region — and to support the growers and seed companies keeping those genetics alive.

Every variety listing includes crop type, growing information, and reviews from real gardeners. Every company profile links directly to their catalog so you can buy with confidence. You can track your personal seed collection, rate varieties you've grown, and help others find what works in their climate.

Seedrate is an independent project. We are not affiliated with any seed company and do not sell seeds. Our data is community-contributed and kept open for anyone to use.

Data & attribution

"Grown near me" and regional filters use the EPA / CEC North American Level III Ecoregions — 182 regions covering the continental US, Alaska, Canada, and Mexico, plus a synthetic Seedrate region for Hawai'i. Zip-to-region mapping is derived from public US Census ZCTA and Statistics Canada FSA polygons. Company details are compiled from public sources and community submissions; corrections are welcome.

When a listing includes an outbound link to a seed company's site, we occasionally use an affiliate URL to support the project. Affiliate relationships never affect ranking, review data, or which companies appear.
