Start seed indoors in a sunny location 6 weeks before planting outdoors. Or, sow seed in the garden in a sunny location in rich, well-drained soil. It performs best in rows 12 inches apart. Thin or transplant plants to 6 inches apart when they are 2 inches tall. Leaves can be harvested 4 months after sowing and then cut often.
