Rutabaga American Purple Top is an old-time variety that remains popular for the flavor it adds to winter meals. Wonderful roasted, mashed, or in a mix with sautéed carrots, turnips, and broccoli. The roots are purple-shouldered with firm, yellow flesh. These cool-weather vegetables can be stored for several months and are best eaten at no larger than 4 inches.

Planting and Care Instructions

Sow directly in the garden as early as the soil can be worked. Plant 2 seeds every 2 inches. Thin to one plant every 2 inches when seedlings are 2 1/2 - 3 inches tall. Sow again in late summer for a fall crop.
